Laser Skin Resurfacing
What it is:
Dr. Wittpenn uses Lumenis lasers to perform laser skin resurfacing, a procedure designed to restore skin health and fight the effects of aging. Laser skin resurfacing can not only improve your overall skin tone and texture, it can also address a number of skin problems, including:
- Sun damage
- Skin discoloration
- Wrinkles
- Fine lines
- Acne scars
- Scars from trauma or injury
Who it's for:
Skin resurfacing with Lumenis Active FX and Deep FX laser treatments can benefit adult men and women and, in some cases, may even be appropriate for teens. These versatile lasers can be used for skin rejuvenation and scar treatment on the whole face or just particular areas, including the delicate skin around eyes and lips, as well as the neck, chest and hands. Laser energy levels can also be adjusted to customize your treatment, minimizing downtime or maximizing results depending on your needs.
How it works:
Both Active FX and Deep FX are fractional lasers that target and treat small dots of skin to stimulate collagen remodeling and skin rejuvenation. However, Active FX targets a larger area of the skin's surface and doesn't penetrate the skin as deeply as the Deep FX laser. Both lasers are ideal for treating sun damage, skin discoloration, scars, acne scars and fine lines and wrinkles, but Active FX may require a series of treatments to produce dramatic results with minimal downtime after each procedure.
Patients usually need anywhere from 3-10 days to recover after laser resurfacing, depending on how aggressive the treatment is and which areas are treated. Some residual redness may last weeks or even months after the most aggressive laser treatments, but this can be easily covered by makeup.
