Thigh Lift
What it is:
Thigh lift is a surgical body contouring procedure that sculpts and shapes the inner thighs and outer thighs by removing loose, excess skin. Thigh lift surgery also reduces the circumference of the upper thighs and reduces stubborn fat deposits when combined with liposuction.
Who it's for:
A thigh lift is typically performed along with other body contouring procedures for patients who have experienced major weight loss. After major weight loss, skin may not naturally shrink to conform to thighs that have significantly less underlying fatty tissue, so thigh lift surgery is performed to achieve skin tightening. Healthy, adult men and women who do not smoke and are at a stable weight are ideal candidates for thigh lift surgery.
How it works:
After placing thigh lift patients under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation, incisions are made in the inner leg creases at the groin and may extend down to the knees along the inner thighs. Extra skin is removed and remaining skin is repositioned. before incisions are closed. If the thighs have not shrunk with weight loss or still have isolated deposits of fatty tissue, liposuction will be used to further improve thigh contours.
Complete thigh lift recovery takes about 4-6 weeks, and light activity can be resumed about two weeks after surgery. Most patients return to work at desk jobs within 2-3 weeks, however movement and strenuous activity restrictions will likely still apply.
